Computer Software and Other Assistive Technology
The Tennessee Center for the Study and Treatment of Dyslexia supports efforts to provide individuals with dyslexia with appropriate instuction and to identify these individuals at an early age. The Center, however, does not endorse any specific program, speaker, product, or instructional materials, noting that there are a number of such which present the critical components of instruction, as defined by the Tennessee Center for the Study and Treatment of Dyslexia.
Instructional SoftwareThis software is for instructional purposes only, for assistance with and supplementation of specific instruction, and for remediation of target problem areas in developing pre-reading and reading/writing/spelling skills.
Additional Recommendations and GuidesThis assistive technology and computer software can be helpful for developing computer skills, for enhancing Internet usage and instruction, for improving dictionary/encyclopedia skills, for aids in report writing and spelling, for accessing lists of grade-level books.
Computer Words to KnowA list of common words when using a computer or various software programs, which would be helpful to know (decoding, word recognition) and to understand the meaning (vocabulary).
