Tennessee Center for the Study and Treatment of Dyslexia
Dyslexia Therapist Training Program (DTTP)
Led by the Tennessee Center for the Study and Treatment of Dyslexia at Middle Tennessee State University, this cohort-based, two-year training prepares individuals to deliver Take Flight: A Comprehension Intervention for Students with Dyslexia. During Year 1, participants complete asynchronous online learning, a two-week synchronous in-person introductory institute, supervised practicum work with students across the school year, and four full-day seminar sessions. Year 2 continues training and supervision to support the delivery of Take Flight with fidelity.
Approach to Training
The Take Flight intervention is trained with fidelity across two years. The goal is to prepare individuals to use the program with fidelity and develop the ability to adapt it to differentiate instruction to meet student needs.
Program Format
Online-hybrid model: Online, asynchronous learning plus in-person training days.
Participants also complete 700 hours of supervised practicum work aligned to Take Flight.
